As we know, the Maluku Islands are famous as one of the regions that produce beautiful stones in Indonesia. Legendary stones such as Bacan, Gem Silica, and Chrysocolla in Chalcedony originate from there. This region is indeed very rich — not only in terms of the beauty of its enchanting seas and beaches, but also its majestic mountains that hold extraordinary geological wonders.

However, among the glittering Bacan stones, a new discovery has emerged that is no less amazing moss agate from Ternate, Maluku, which we have named “Ternate” Moss Agate.

While in Java, Moss Agate is most famous from the Trenggalek region in East Java, “Ternate” Moss Agate brings a new color. Over the past two years, this stone has begun to attract the attention of lapidaries and collectors due to its exotic moss patterns and uniqueness rarely found in other types of Moss Agate.

What makes it special is that “Ternate” Moss Agate has an “Orbs” pattern and is often decorated with crystal druzy on the edges. This combination creates a captivating look a blend of natural beauty and sparkling crystal texture.

As a lapidarist, I personally really enjoy the process of cutting and polishing this stone. Each cut brings new surprises—some form landscapes like natural scenery, some highlight orbicular patterns, and some even showcase captivating natural crystal edges.

This stone truly offers a “3-in-1” beauty within a single material.

Not only is it perfect for cabochons, but “Ternate” Moss Agate is also stunning when used as crystal decorations or natural collection pieces. Its beauty and unique character make this stone worthy of a place in the hearts of gemstone enthusiasts worldwide.
