Neela Terra Jasper Rare Indonesia Gemstone

Neela Terra Jasper — A New Discovery from Eastern Indonesia

Azmi Faizal Fahri

In early 2026, we were surprised by a remarkable new discovery from East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia — a jasper unlike anything we had seen before. It features soft blue tones combined with organic patterns of brown, red, and natural color gradients that immediately captured our attention.

Without hesitation, we brought the material to our workshop for cutting and testing. The results exceeded our expectations. The internal patterns revealed depth, movement, and character that made each slab feel truly unique.

We decided to create a pair of cabochons from this jasper, and once polished, we were genuinely impressed by the surface luster. Unlike many jasper varieties that tend to be brittle and difficult to polish to a high shine, Neela Terra Jasper developed a smooth, glassy finish — something rare and exceptional for this type of stone.

Excited by what we discovered, we shared the material with our friend Leigh (Instagram: @forrealstones) in the United States, who felt the same admiration. Many names were suggested, but one stood out as perfectly capturing the spirit of this stone: Neela Terra Jasper — derived from ancient Indian language, meaning Blue and Earth.

A beautiful name for a truly beautiful jasper.
